Just a reminder that as the various state legislatures gear up for the next rounds of committee meetings and as bills are being introduced, there has been and will continue to be many new bills introduced relating to “dog fighting and animal cruelty”. These bills are gathering mass public support as a result of the Michael Vick disaster. These bills must be monitored very closely to assure that hunting and trapping is clearly excluded. Currently some of these bills have exclusions similar to; “with the exception of legally conducted trapping and hunting activities”. Please work with all of your state sportsmen’s groups to assure we are aware of the potential damage these well meaning bills could inflict upon the trapping and hunting communities.
